From Capcom's Street Fighter IV iOS app site:
----
Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with people who were caught in tragic "Tohoku Region Earthquake" in Japan. At less than a dollar, it's literally the least you can do to support disaster relief efforts in Japan. But hey, every little bit helps, right?
CAPCOM as a Japanese gaming company, starting from Mar. 15th through Mar. 22nd we are going to drop the price of iPhone / iPod touch "Street Fighter IV" globally and donate all the sales to public charity.
We can never thank you enough for all the support each one of you are giving to us.
People from all over the world, please unite with us to help people in the disaster-strick area.
----
Digging further, it appears that the SFIV donation sale is part of a more comprehensive disaster relief assistance program Capcom has in the works, including the aforementioned sale and a 100 million yen donation to earthquake relief efforts.
It's a nice gesture, but hopefully Capcom will remember that a lot of people already bought SFIV when it went on sale for the same price a month or two ago and expand the sale to other titles.
UPDATE: Just when I thought it was safe to not say, "Hey, maybe some other companies will take the idea and run with it," SEGA is donating the proceeds from every Sonic iOS game to disaster relief efforts from now until March 20. So if you like charity efforts but hate shoryukens, well, there you go.
UPDATE 2: Add PopCap to the list, at least over the weekend.
