Classical Cafe:

Classical Music This Weekend

Here in a nutshell are some classical music performances available this weekend.  Check out the previous postings on this blog for more information.

Friday
Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center presents Folk Traditions: Dvorak and Bartok at the Cumberland County Playhouse in Crossville at 8pm CST.  Admittedly, that's a schlep.  Now, if we had high-speed rail in the Nashville to Knoxville corridor...

Saturday
Decisions, decisions...
•  Knoxville Choral Society at the Knoxville Convention Center Lecture Hall, 8pm -- features Haydn's Missa Solemnis as well as the winners of the Young Classical Musicians Competition.
•  Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra will perform Gustav Holst's The Planets and a work by Lully.  Oak Ridge High School Auditorium at 8pm.

Sunday (Don't forget to spring ahead to DST at 2am)
•   UT Symphony Orchestra concert Concertos and Classics at 4pm in the Cox Auditorium on the UT Campus.  Free.
•   I apologize for previously overlooking the Music of Maurice Duruflé at Church of Ascension in the Friends of Music and the Arts program.  His Requiem (1948) and Messe Cum Jubilo (1967) will be performed by the Choirs of Ascension.  5pm.
