The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra performed Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 5 last month in their concluding concert of the season (my review in Metro Pulse is here), but they weren't alone in offering up some Mahler. Among the notable occurrences of Mahler symphonies around the country last month was Staatskapelle Berlin at Carnegie Hall in ten performances covering all 10 symphonies and the orchestral vocal works. Alex Ross, music critic for The New Yorker, in his latest classical music article mentions these, as well as giving the KSO a (tiny) mention.
