The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra has received a $25,000 federal grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The grant, awarded by the National Endowment for the Arts, will cover one of the core orchestra positions.
The KSO was one of 64 orchestras to receive funding from the ARRA totaling $2.6 million dollars out of the $50 million allotted to the NEA. The orchestras of Nashville, Chattanooga, and Memphis also received funding. Jubilee Community Arts of Knoxville also received a $25,000 grant in the Traditional and Folk Arts category.
