Friends of Music and the Arts: "Music Among Friends"

The 2009-2010 season of the Friends of Music and the Arts series at Church of the Ascension opens next Sunday, September 20th, with Music Among Friends, A Concert Devoted to Chamber Music.  Appearing in the concert will be Miroslav Hristov, violin; Wesley Baldwin, cello; Gary Sperl, clarinet; and Cindy Hicks, harp.

The expected program includes:

• Grand Sonata for Clarinet and Harp by Charles Bochsa
• Trio III for Clarinet, Violin, and Cello by Joseph Haydn
• Intermède from Quartet for the End of Time by Olivier Messiaen
• Fantasy for Violin and Harp by Camille Saint-Saens
• Trio for Violin, Cello, and Harp by Jacques Ibert
The program begins at 3:00 p.m.  Church of the Ascension is located at 800 S. Northshore Drive (between Kingston Pike and Lyons View Pike) in Knoxville.  This concert is FREE.

The Friends of Music and the Arts concert series continues monthly through next April.  Of special note is a performance by The King's Singers, the British a cappella group, in February.  For further information, call Church of the Ascension at 865-588-0589.
