Northington Performs Copland

American composer Aaron Copland will be the subject of a recital by pianist David Northington, a Professor of Piano in the University of Tennessee School of Music, on Friday evening, October 23rd at 8 p.m. at the UT Music Hall.

Northington is currently in the process of recording the complete works for piano by Copland for Centaur Records.  He has previously recorded the Chopin waltzes for Centaur.

"Since receiving his degrees at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and the Yale University School of Music, Northington has taught at several universities. His many teaching awards include the Tennessee Music Teachers Association's Teacher of the Year Award and the Tennessee Governor's School of the Arts "Outstanding Teacher Award." Northington also has been the recipient of the Tennessee Arts Commission's Artist of the Year Award."
