An interesting variety of music opportunities are on the radar for the next couple of days.


On Sunday afternoon, the second recital in this year's Evelyn Miller Young Pianist Series features pianist Chetan Tierra. He holds top prizes from many competitions, most recently receiving 2nd prize at the Hilton Head International Piano Competition, the Audience Award, and 3rd prize at the Jose Iturbi International Music Competition.
The YPS recitals are held this season at Central Baptist of Bearden, 6300 Deane Hill Drive (corner of Kingston Pike) at 2:30 p.m.

On Monday evening, the King's Singers, one of the preeminent men's vocal ensembles performing today, appears in a concert at Church of the Ascension, 800 Northshore Drive (between Kingston Pike and Lyons View). Also on Monday evening, members of the Knoxville Symphony Youth Orchestra Association will perform a FREE concert at the Tennessee Theatre downtown. The concert will feature performances from four of the five orchestras in the Association: the Philharmonia, led by Katie Hutchinson; the Sinfonia, led by Kathy Hart-Reilly; the Youth Chamber Orchestra led by Wesley Baldwin and the Youth Orchestra.
Don't forget about Shakespeare in Love, the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra's February Masterworks concerts, next Thursday and Friday, Feb 25 and 26, at 8:00 p.m. at the Tennessee Theatre. (Lucas Richman conducts) On the program will be:
• Edward MacDowell: Hamlet and Ophelia, op. 22
• Tchaikovsky: Romeo and Juliet, Fantasy Overture after Shakespeare
• Mendelssohn: Overture and Incidental Music to A Midsummer Night's Dream with actors from the Clarence Brown Theatre and the women of the Knoxville Chamber Chorale
