Saturday: "Music and Healing" at TVUUC

The Performing Arts and Lecture Series at TVUUC presents Music and Healing, a program assembled by Knoxville composer James Carlson, on Saturday evening, May 1, at 7:30 p.m.

The participants are:

  • Soprano Rebekkah Hilgraves with excerpts from the song cycle "Rachel Rising"
  • Contralto Diane Thornton with pianist Adam Bowles
  • Lucie Carlson, with multi-instrumentalist Rachel Schlafer-Parton in a workshop on balancing Chakras through music
  • Composer James Carlson premieres "The Touch" performed by Emily Douglass, soprano, and Mark Douglass, marimba
  • Music therapist Alana Seaton leads a lecture demonstration
