Classical Cafe:

WUOT's Daniel Berry To Retire in September

Daniel Berry, a voice known to Knoxvillians both on the classical music stage and the classical music airways, has announced that he will retire as Program Director of WUOT-FM effective September 1. Berry has been the host of WUOT's Morning Concert since arriving at the station in 1983.

Changes in classical music broadcasting have been making the news of late, many of them truly unfortunate for classical music listeners. St. Louis's KFUO-FM ("Classic99") was sold to Gateway Creative Broadcasting's "Joy FM," which switched the format to "Christian contemporary" pop music.

The announcement is on WUOT's website.
