Classical Cafe:

Knoxville Opera At First Fridays

Last season, Knoxville Opera added its performing presence to the diverse line-up of entertainments, performances, and meet-and-greets on Downtown's First Fridays. Singers from the company and the Knoxville Opera Studio offer a wide program of music for attendees at a spot downtown. This season they return with a few twists owing to production schedules.

As of this writing, KO won't be around for this Friday's event due to the Labor Day Weekend. Instead, they will offer their Opera After Hours on Friday, September 24th, at the S&W Grand on Gay Street. This scheduling allows them to preview their first production of the season, Puccini's Madama Butterfly, which runs at the Tennessee Theatre on what would be a First Friday--Friday, October 1--as well as on Sunday, October 3.

After that, Opera After Hours will fall on a fairly normal First Friday schedule:

  • November 5th
  • December 3rd
  • February 4th
  • March 4th
  • April 1st

It is anticipated that all events will be in the lobby of the S&W Grand. Check this blog for performance times as the events approach.
