A unique collaboration between the Clarence Brown Theatre and the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra has resulted in a production of Peter Shaffer's play Amadeus, a somewhat fictionalized account of the last decade of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's life from the envious perspective of his contemporary and rival composer, Antonio Salieri. In this production, the onstage orchestra will be integrated into the fabric of the play providing what should be a rare theatrical experience. The production opens on Thursday, September 9 and runs thru September 19.
The director is Calvin MacLean of CBT and the music director/conductor is Lucas Richman of the KSO. Look for my preview in next week's Metro Pulse.
