Classical Cafe:

Music Inspired KSO Art Exhibition Opens Friday

Last spring, with its 75th season on the horizon, the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra invited artists to attend a symphony rehearsal and use the inspiration in a work of art. More than 30 artists responded.

With an exhibition in mind, works were selected by juror Carl Gombert of Maryville College. That exhibition opens on First Friday, October 1, at the Balcony Space at the Emporium Center (100 S. Gay Street) and continues through October 29. The First Friday opening reception is from 5:00-9:00 pm and is free and open to the public. Complimentary hors d'oeuvres will be served. I should also mention that this coincides with the 100 Block Grand Opening Party on First Friday, a block party in the 100 block of Gay Street, celebrating the fabulous revitalization of the streetscape. See the print Metro Pulse for details.

The artists exhibited in the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra Commemorative Exhibition are:

Julie Bernal, Brad Bittle, Neranza Noel Blount, Larry Cole, Victor Costantino, Nick DeFord, Gary A. Everett, Jacques Gautreau, Gary Lovett, Kate McCullough, Roy McCullough, Joe Parrott, Donna Silvey, Marji Smith, Lynnda Tenpenny, Regina Turner, and Susan Watson of Knoxville;
