Knoxville Opera has created its meet-and-greet as Opera After Hours and is designed for downtown's First Friday events. For October, due to the Friday, October 1 opening of their production of Puccini's Madama Butterfly, their event will be held one week earlier on Friday, September 24.
This week's Opera After Hours will be at the S&W Grand, 516 S. Gay Street, from 6 pm to 11 pm. In fact, it is anticipated that each of the events through the rest of the season will be there as well.
At the events are singers either from the cast of the current production or local singers from the Knoxville Opera Studio.
"Seasoned opera lovers and newbies taking a chance for the first time will love the intimate encounter with live music and song. Drink specials and light atmosphere create an inviting and casual setting for new fans and those who wish to satisfy their curiosity."
Great fun, I can attest to that.
