The duo of violinist Jennifer Carsillo and cellist Wesley Baldwin will perform a concert of violin/cello duets as part of the Friends of Music and the Arts series (FOMA) at Church of the Ascension, 800 S. Northshore Drive, in Knoxville. The concert is at 5:00 pm.
Their anticipated program will be:
- Beethoven: Duo for Violin and Cello in C Major
- Bartok: Hungarian Folk Melodies
- Reinhold Glière: Eight Duets for Violin and Cello, Op. 39
- Lucas Richman: Duet for Violin and Cello
- Ravel: Sonata for Violin and Cello
Sunday, September 26
The University of Tennessee Symphony Orchestra will open its 2010-11 season with "American Spectacular." On the program will be works by Lucas Richman, Michael Torke, and Aaron Copland.
James Fellenbaum will conduct. Andrew Skoog will be the tenor soloist in one of the Richman works, The Kisses of a Pearl.
This concert is at 4:00 pm in the James R. Cox Auditorium (Alumni Memorial Bldg) on the UT Campus. FREE

At 8:00 pm in the Cox Auditorium, guest pianist Martha Thomas will offer a solo recital entitled "Max Reger: The Forgotten Romantic." Ms. Thomas is on the piano faculty of the University of Georgia. FREE

Jazz! The Eddie Gomez Trio and the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra offer a concert at the James R. Cox Auditorium on the UT Campus at 8 pm. Info There is an admission charge.
Friday, October 1 and Sunday, October 3
Knoxville Opera opens its season with a new production of Puccini's Madama Butterfly. At the Tennessee Theatre. Friday at 8:00 pm and Sunday at 2:30 pm
Saturday, October 2
The Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra opens its season with a new music director/conductor on board. Dan Allcott, who is director of orchestras at Tennessee Tech, is hoping to take the orchestra to the next level.
The concert's program will include:
Mozart: Ave Verum Corpus (with Oak Ridge Chorus)Jacob ter Veldhuis: Rainbow Concerto with Wesley Baldwin, cello Johannes Brahms: Symphony No. 2 in D Major
