The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra has announced that it has hired Gabriel Lefkowitz as its new concertmaster. Lefkowitz will join the KSO beginning with the May 19 and 20 Masterworks Concert.

From the KSO's press release:

Following the third candidate's withdrawal from the search, the committee voted to hire Lefkowitz.  "All of us on the audition committee were enchanted not only by Gabriel's performance at our Masterworks concert and in his solo recital, but also by the immediate rapport he established with our audiences," says KSO Music Director Lucas Richman.  "We count ourselves as being very fortunate and honored to be able to welcome him as our new concertmaster--I'm really looking forward to our collaboration and everything else that Gabriel will bring to the KSO!"

Metro Pulse will have more on the selection in future issues and here in CLASSICAL CAFE.
