This Sunday (Part 1): UT Symphony Orchestra

Those looking for classical music this Sunday have a choice, perhaps a painful one. One choice will be found at UT, as the University of Tennessee Symphony Orchestra offers its annual "Concertos and Classics" concert featuring the winners of the UT School of Music Concerto Competition. To start off the afternoon, the orchestra, under Maestro James Fellenbaum, will perform Wagner's Prelude to Act III of Lohengrin. The four competition winners performing are:

Non-string Instrumentalist: Flutist Kathryne Salo will perform two movements from AndrĂ© Jolivet's Concerto for Flute and Strings.

String Instrumentalist: Violinist Thomas Lovett will perform Tzigane of Maurice Ravel

Vocal: Soprano Theresa Dunigan will perform two of the Four Last Songs of Richard Strauss

Piano: Pianist Shinyoung Kim will perform the first movement (Moderato) of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2.
