Pappas has most recently been the Chair of the Department of Music at Marshall University. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Northern Kentucky University, a Masters of Music degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Illinois, and the Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Choral Conducting and Pedagogy from the University of Iowa.

Pappas will, of course, oversee the move of the School into its long-awaited new building, the Natalie L. Haslam Music Center opening in the fall of 2013.
