Classical Cafe:

Attention Violists!

If, by chance, you play the viola--or know a student or adult that does, here is an event that you will certainly want to put on your calendar.

The Viola Celebration is a FREE workshop, now in its sixth year, sponsored by the University of Tennessee School of Music for violists of all ages and abilities. The event includes master classes, performances by guest artists, and participation in the All-Viola Orchestra.

The dates for the event are Saturday and Sunday, September 29-30, 2012, at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Registration is required, but there is no cost to attend.

A special Viola Celebration Faculty Concert will be held on Saturday evening of the workshop in the James R. Cox Auditorium. Guest violists will include George Taylor (Eastman School of Music), Melinda Daetsch (Hartt Conservatory), Dominic DiStefano (Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music), Rudolf Haken (University of Illinois), and Christine Rutledge (University of Iowa) along with UT School of Music faculty violist Hillary Herndon and pianists Dr. Kevin Class and Dr. Bernadette Lo.  The concert is at 8 pm.
