I wrote recently in Metro Pulse of the amazing listening opportunities offered by the University of Tennessee School of Music and their faculty/guest artist recital programs. A perfect example comes up this week with the faculty recital of Hillary Herndon, viola, and Bernadette Lo, piano, in a program of viola music from English composers--a rare chance to hear music that one generally hears only on recordings, if at all.
Their program consists of:
• Ralph Vaughan Williams: Romance
• Benjamin Britten: Lachrymae, Op 48 (Reflections on a song of Dowland)
• Arnold Bax: Legend
• York Bowen: Sonata #1 in C minor
