Met Opera 'Live in HD' -- 'Elixir of Love' Saturday

The Metropolitan Opera begins its 2012-13 Live in HD Season this Saturday, October 13, with a live broadcast of Donizetti's comedy L'Elisir d'Amore (The Elixir of Love). The broadcast time is 12:55 pm ET.

From the Met's website:
"Anna Netrebko and Matthew Polenzani star in Bartlett Sher's new production of one of the greatest comic gems in opera, as the fickle Adina and her besotted Nemorino. Mariusz Kwiecien is the blustery sergeant Belcore and Ambrogio Maestri is Dulcamara, the loveable quack and dispenser of the elixir. Maurizio Benini conducts."

The Knoxville venue for the live HD broadcasts is the Regal Cinemas' West Town Mall 9 complex at West Town Mall, 7600 Kingston Pike. Tickets ($24.00, discounts for seniors and students) can be purchased at the usual box office, although I suggest coming earlier than you would for a regular film screening. You can also buy tickets online with the usual surcharge.

An encore HD broadcast of L'Elisir d'Amore (not live) is being offered on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 6:30 pm at the same theater.
