Classical Cafe:

Friday at Relix: 'The Face on the Barroom Floor'

In this coming week's Metro Pulse you can read all about Knoxville's newest opera company, Marble City Opera, that will be specializing in some of the repertoire's smaller, more interesting works you've probably never heard of--yet--but maybe should have.

Their initial offering is The Face on the Barroom Floor by Henry Mollicone, probably the most often-produced American cabaret opera. The production will feature Kathryn Frady Marvel and Kevin Richard Doherty (the two principals in Marble City Opera) along with tenor Boris Van Druff. The Relix Variety Theater performance is Friday evening--doors open at 7pm for an 8pm show. The pianist will be WUOT's Melony Dodson.
A week later, the company will be at the Atlanta Fringe Festival for five performances.

Shown above is Kathryn Frady Marvel and Kevin Richard Doherty in a production of Don Giovanni.
