Weekend: Marble City Opera, "Ties That Bond"

Marble City Opera, Knoxville's chamber opera organization, is offering three performances this weekend of "Ties That Bond," a collection of three, short, contemporary American operas. The performances are in the Carpetbag Theatre-Blackbox space at the Emporium Building at 100 S. Gay Street--Saturday at 7 pm and 9 pm; Sunday at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15.

The operas are:

Introductions and Goodbyes by Lukas Foss

            Cast: Kevin Richard Doherty

Will You Marry Me? by Hugo Weisgall

            Cast: Natalee Louise McReynolds and Ryan Olson

A Hand of Bridge by Samuel Barber

            Cast: Ian Richardson, Linda Barnett, Dan Sparkes, and Martha Prewitt

Director: Thomas Isaac Collins

Pianist: Joseph Welch
