Fearless Foodie:

Mouth-Watering Encyclopedia, Now at Lawson-McGhee

Big news! The reference desk in the public library downtown,  Lawson-McGhee, is now the proud possessor of The new encyclopedia of Southern Culture and Vol. 7 is all about Foodways.

And if that's not enough fun, in a blog post about the new (stay-at-the-library only) volumes, the reference blogger said he or she (I'm pretty sure it's the "she," and she's delightful, but it's unsigned) had learned the differences between different types of barbecue from Foodways. And she (or he) wants to play a game called, "What's barbecue to you?" in which you "describe your favorite barbecue and I'll try to tell whether your barbecue is Texas, Memphis, or Carolina style. She (or he) can be reached via e-mail at reference@knoxlib.org, or by phone at 215-8700.
