Fearless Foodie:

Alas, Table 15 Finished

Another sad note on the Knoxville fine dining scene. Saturday--as in this past Saturday, May 2--was the last day of operations for toney wine bar and brunch spot Table Fifteen Bar and Bistro in Turkey Creek. The reason's just what you'd assume: "The current economic climate has had a negative impact on many businesses across our city. Unfortunately, we were not immune," said the statement provided by co-owner Chris Gettelfinger.

The closing puts Dennis Perkins, our favorite, really unmatchable, local wine expert (and I say this not just because he donated so many good bottles freely to Actors Co-op events back in the day and because he sings a wicked, "I Did it My Way," though that's certainly part of it), is out of a job for now. He says he's had some calls and is hoping to stay in the wine biz. I've got no doubt he'll elevate another establishment with his wit and wine wisdom once the right fit presents itself. Meantime, though, I suggest reading his wine takes in the winter holiday issue of Knoxville Magazine, along with entertaining recipes that seem like they'd work as great for grads and wedding showers as they did for New Year's. And Dennis, dear, do try to put this highly instructive wine blog  somewhere we can keep browsing it once the Table Fifteen website follows the bar into the sunset.
