How to cook gluten-free comfort foods? There's a class for that, and it will be at the UT Medical Center. The idea looks great--I'm hoping one day soon they'll start some of these classes for evenings. Here's the press release:
GLUTEN-FREE COOKING CLASS AT UT MEDICAL CENTER AUGUST 10
The Healthy Living Kitchen team at The University of Tennessee Medical Center will demonstrate how to make a meal of comfort foods that are also gluten-free. The class, which features special guest Janet Prince, is at Noon Wednesday, August 10 in the Healthy Living Kitchen at UT Medical Center, located in Suite E-170 in the Heart Lung Vascular Institute. To register, call (865) 305-6877 or visit online at www.utmedicalcenter.org/healthylivingkitchen
The gluten-free diet is the only treatment for celiac disease. Learn tips on modifying recipes and following the guidelines from Prince, author of My Gluten-Free Knoxville, as well as from the medical center's Healthy Living Kitchen team. The team of the Healthy Living Kitchen, sponsored by Food City, includes the senior executive chef, a registered dietitian and a cardiac nurse specialist from the medical center.
Cost of the program, which includes the lesson and a meal, is $20. Advance registration is required.
