Bigger Cooking Contest Prizes at TN Valley Fair!

Is it that time already? Entries for various food contests at the Sept. 7-16 Tennessee Valley Fair are due by Aug. 16, and this year's competition's are offering higher premiums than in years past. Check it out:

 Monterey Mushroom - Create a delicious entrée  or side dish using 8 ounces of Monterey Mushrooms. First 
place winner will receive $300.00.  Second place - $200.00. Third place - $100.00
 Decorated Cakes (Class 10 & 11 / Best Buttercream or Fondant Cake) will receive $80.00 for first place. Amateur adult first place winner will also receive a free 4 week decorating class from Sugarbakers.
 Decorated Cupcakes (Class 12 & 13 / Youth & Amateur Adult Divisions) will receive $50.00 for first place. Special thanks to KupKatie's Kupkakes for sponsoring this contest.
 Cakes, Breads & Pies:
 1st place pie = $35.00, 1st place cake = $25.00
 Junior Confections (Class 20-22 / Beginners, Jr. Youth and Senior Youth) will receive $12.00 for first place. Special thanks to Scrumps Cupcakes for sponsoring this contest.
 King Arthur Flour Contest  - "These Ain't Your Mama's Biscuits!" and "Muffin Madness" contests  - best biscuit wins $75.00 gift certificate from King Arthur. Best muffin receives a $50.00 gift certificate.
 Hot Dog Decorating Contest  - This special "day of" competition (show up and participate) will be held on Sunday, September 16 at 2:30 p.m. Use off the wall toppings to create a savory new recipe.  First place winner will receive $75.00 Food City gift card and a trophy.  Special thanks to Food City for sponsoring this contest.
