I picked some of these today at
Clift Orchards, almost 2 quarts in a half hour or so for two of us. The price was very nice ($10 per gallon) and the berries have really enjoyed that outpouring of rain these past couple days. I wouldn't describe them as bursting with sweetness, but they are very flavorful and grown without pesticides. And there's that troop up the hill I got to add to my "steps" for today, all in all very rewarding. I'm guessing Clift and the other berry farms hereabouts will have blueberries at least another week. Here's a rudimentary list, kindly folks one and all--but call ahead so you know someone will be there, and to secure a berry forecast:
I keep thinking we're going to make preserves from some of these blueberries, but so far they've been quite pleasing just with some Cheerios and
Cruze Farm light organic milk. The good life, indeed.
