So help me and my waistline, Boyd's Jig and Reel at 101 S. Central is now open for lunch, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., including Saturdays, but not Mondays. Here's a sample of the lunch fare, macaroni pie, lookin' good at $6.95. And then onto the rest of the menu, which, heaven help us, seems to have one lunch that involves haggis--but also more promising items like scones and ice cream (together), Scotch egg, seafood chowder and these four:
BEEF AND ALE PIE
A hearty combination of beef, vegetables and traditional Scottish ale. Topped with crispy puff pastry and baked to a golden brown.
A classic Scottish Pub dish prepared with stewed onions, potatoes, and carrots mixed with braised lamb tips. Comfort food.
CHICKEN AND CIDER PIE
Roasted chicken, apples, carrots, and onions slow cooked in a crisp cider.
TOAD IN A HOLE
Warm sausage wrapped in puff pastry and oven baked. Topped with caramelized onions and served with spicy Colman's English MustaTopped with puff pastry and oven baked.
We wish the home of much whiskey, Strongbow Cider on tap, and the Tuesday Hillbilly Jam session hosted by our buddy Sarah Pirkle the best of luck with this new mid-day meal endeavor.
