In addition to this coup, the cover image of the issue features a stack of gluten-free griddle cakes, created by Executive Chef of the Main House Josh Feathers.

"We are so honored to be listed as the No.1 hotel in America for food lovers. At Blackberry Farm, we constantly aim to provide the best culinary experience for guests in both our Barn and Main House Restaurants by providing experiences that celebrate the region, highest quality ingredients possible and authentic southern character in all that we do," stated Blackberry Farm Proprietor Sam Beall.

Bon Appétit describes this list as a collection of hotels that have outstanding food and really cool destinations that Bon Appétit editors love to go to and want to return again and again. The list is a celebration of properties that make food equally as important as other aspects of a hotel.

Situated on a 4,200-acre estate in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, Blackberry Farm is a 58-room property providing world-class luxury and adventure activities. Paying homage to locally grown and sourced ingredients, Blackberry Farm is celebrated as an unrivaled food and wine destination, providing farm-to-table cuisine, as well as a comprehensive wine cellar complete with more than 160,000 bottles of wine from around the world.

Now, Bon Appetit is not telling us anything we didn't know. It's spring, and that means mushroom planting time in East Tennessee (or plugging spores or whatever you want to call it). Everything Mushrooms will kick off the "season" with a workshop on growing oyster mushrooms in straw, a meal, and homemade adult beverages Apr. 6. Even more exciting: the news that Jessica Hammonds of Organicism Farms and Foods has joined the staff at Everything Mushrooms and will cook the meal! Here's the deal, according to the events page:

April 6, 2013 - Spring Open House, Workshop, and Dinner: Noon-Until.

We are looking forward to a fun, casual, and informative afternoon of mushroomy nerdiness. Festivities will begin at noon, when we open for normal store hours. We'll have extra staff on hand, so come on down and visit, poke around, ask questions. This workshop will feature discussion and a hands-on demonstration. You'll learn about what it takes to properly chop, prepare, and pasteurize straw for oyster mushroom production. It's fun, and everyone will get to make their own oyster mushroom bag to grow at home! The only time I didn't love them was when I took some to my boyfriend's dad, Donald Allerton, as a house gift sometime in the early 80s. He lived on an entire floor townhome in Chicago, and I didn't want to be outclassed, so brought the gourmet delicacy only available in my (tourist) home town. Didn't find out for a year or more that he had a raging nut allergy. Now if we could just get a Cheese Shop, another store started in Williamsburg and still going strong, then maybe I could have a Cheese Shop sub with special sauce and could save myself quite a bit of culinary whining here in K-Town.

Meantime, welcome to Knoxville, Peanut Shop.of Williamsburg. Oops. Forget it was Valentine's Day? Or still so busy evaluating where this relationship is really headed and does it merit a card or more like roses and would that lead to the expectation of pricey rocks in Princess settings... Skip it all. You still have a couple of hours to spontaneously plan to show up at Bearden Beer Market at 4524 Old Kingston Pike, there to enjoy Dale's Fried Pies and the wares of the Tootsie Truck to stay or maybe go and of course there's a reason the place is called the Beer Market. Yep, there's a winner. Starts at 5:30 p.m.
