Microsoft uses Microsoft applications to process severance packages for the 1400 Microsoft employees laid off last month.  Hilarity ensues.

If anyone knows anything about legal precedents for this and whether or not Microsoft is boned on this front, let me know here.  I'd love to hear it.
Air Force Keeps Air Force Members From Seeing Hulu Air Force Commercials

Okay, that's not technically their goal.  In all seriousness, bolstering the effectiveness of my taxpayer dollars by attaching accountability and an impetus toward responsible, knowledgeable use of the goods and services purchased with same is damn well what I want to see out of my governmental bodies, military and otherwise.

Tough love or not, I'm a fan of this policy.  Let's go national with it.

Republican Congressman Redefines "Irony"

The senior Republican representative on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is requesting that a system be put in place to ensure that White House business emails be preserved, account of origin notwithstanding. 

...you know, six years after we actually needed something like this.  Someone get Rip Van Issa a time machine already.

While we're at it, someone call my boy Kernell.  If this goes through, I think I just found a great new post-graduation job for him.
You're just going to have to trust me on this one.

Basically, what that there gibberish amounts to is that the guy behind the Smash Bros. series now has his own little semi-autonomous group and a directive from Nintendo to produce new IPs.

Wouldn't that be nice.  Might actually give me an excuse to get the Wii out of mothballs (sure, Deadly Creatures is out, but until the ingrates at the local renteries actually stock it, my not-getting-review-copies-of-anything ass is out of luck).

Now seeking free or low-cost fixes for the following problems:
We'll start with a one-liner:  It both pleases and disappoints me that a YouTube search for "big ears festival" turns up exactly one relevant entry, and it's mine. 

More on that later, if I manage to get around to the "What Big Ears 2.0 Needs" entry I have percolating.
