The Daily Pulse:

[The Slug] "Sir, Your Driver's License, Please"

Update: Now TVA's arrested Landon for "trespassing" (on a public road, while driving a resident of that road to her home.) And, the video's made its way to the Huffington Post. Nice job of keeping a lid on this already messy PR situation, fellas.

Head on over to the United Mountain Defense's blog for some frustrating video footage. Two days ago, Matt Landon, the videographer and public face of the organization, and some other volunteers were setting up an air monitor on private property, with permission from the tenants there. Then, suddenly and for no apparent reason, they were approached by TVA police and Roane Co. Sheriff's deputies, who, according to the account, detained them for nearly two hours.

One of the cops' problems, as shown on the tape, is that Landon couldn't (or wouldn't) produce a driver's license. Sounds uncooperative, I guess, except for the fact that he gave them a U.S. passport. Also, as far as I know, you're not required to give the police any identification unless they can demonstrate they have probable cause to believe you are committing a crime.

Landon was taping the whole time, except for a period after some stogie-chomping Good Old Boy deputy took his camera away.
