Modern-day folk hero Matt Landon, the passionate and eloquent thorn in TVA's large and obtuse side since the Kingston Coal Ash Spill, yesterday went to court in Roane County. He was being charged for trespassing on TVA land after he was (1) Setting up an air monitor at a house near the spill and (2) Driving some old, near-blind lady to her home past TVA barricades.
He was facing a year in jail if found guilty, but TVA decided to cut him a deal. Dropped charges, as long as he promises to stay away from the spill area and not speak with any TVA employees for the next six months. Understandably, he took this deal. Read the whole frustrating account here.
