Edye McComas, a popular figure behind the scenes of Knoxville's restaurant community for years--at Tomato Head and currently at Nama in Bearden--suffered head injuries a couple of weeks ago when she fell from a balcony. The restaurant business being what it is, McComas doesn't have health insurance and piled up sizable medical bills after the fall.
To offset some of those costs, friends will be holding a benefit concert and auction at World Grotto on Sunday, March 8, starting at 7 p.m. The musical acts lined up include Cruz Contreras, R.B. Morris and Hector Qirko, Erick Baker, Leah Gardner, Matt Morelock, Tom Pryor, Jamie Cook, Jeff Woods, Jonathan Sexton and the Big Love Community Choir, Christina Horn and Nate Barrett, Jon Worley, and Mike McGill. Yee-Haw posters and donated books will be included in the auction, and food provided by MagPies and Tomato Head. Ten bucks at the door, all proceeds going to help cover McComas' medical bills.
Edit: Corrected spelling to McComas
