By which I mean to say, Monday is oatmeal, a strong cup of coffee, a review of job duties (in case I've forgotten them over the weekend) and a head-slap or two for the things I forgot to get done on Friday before I left.
This is Monday across the board, no?
*Anyway* ... the Mosts and events. But first, a note about the Mosts: I see more comments on old stories and events. This is good. This is our happy readers diving and digging deep into The Metropulse.com. I'm interested to see what other rocks you look under.

The Lonetones Take Flight on Canaries by Jack Neely (Music Reviews) (in which the gracious commenter expresses miffed-ness that Jack missed the historical nature of the lyrics).
From the story: The Lonetones' new CD, Canaries, marks an evolution in the music of the locally well-known string band. Steph Gunnoe, who wrote most of the songs on the album, has an unusual baby-doll singing voice, something like a soprano proving she can sing falsetto as well as any guy.
Harold Shersky, 1919-2008 by Jack Neely (Secret History) (in which the commenter shares a memory of Mr. Shersky)
From the story (originally published 7/23/08): If you didn't know Harold Shersky, you know somebody who did. Harold could perplex those simple-minded enough to believe there's such a thing as a typical Knoxvillian. A master of kosher cuisine and an observant Jew trusted with solemn rituals at Heska Amuna Synagogue, he was the son of a Russian refugee from the czar's terror.
Tennessee's "Guns in Bars" Bill May Finally Get its Show-Down by Charles Maldonado (Citybeat) (in which the commenter wonders if the law is necessary, considering his own history of carrying)
From the story: "We want a clean bill," so says Rachel Parsons of the National Rifle Association, of the piece of state legislation that she keeps calling "the restaurant carry bill." [ ... And Charles' follow-up on the Daily Pulse blog. The gun bill passed, in case you didn't know.]
