The Daily Pulse:

Here She Comes... Miss Black Tennessee at First Friday

View image

The First Friday Networking Organization will be sponsoring  a fundraiser and Showcase for Daunisha  Lashan Mathews, Miss Black Tennessee 2009.  Ms. Mathews, who will represent Tennessee in the USA Pageant in Washington, D.C. in July, will do the meet and greet tonight (June 5)  at the Broker Banquet Hall on M.L. King Blvd.  The doors open at 8 p.m.; the live band in the background will be Brown Eyez, with a live deejay to follow. During her Friday-Saturday sojourn in Knoxville, Miss Black Tennessee will also speak to youth groups at the YMCA and the Boys and Girls Club of the Tennessee Valley. Look for more about Miss Black Tennessee 2009--including her "hooked on phonics" early years, plans for a PhD in 2010, and why she still sees the value of a pageant just for black women--in her  June 11 Metro Pulse  "Street Talk" interview.
