So I don't like being that person who talks about the weather; I'm not a meteorologist nor my local-news-loving grandparents nor some strange man you got shoved into on the elevator and whom you feel obligated to talk to since you are touching him where no stranger should. But seriously, what's up with the weather? I've only lived in Knoxville for three years so maybe this is normal, but to me flash flood warnings every other day is not normal. I cannot say that I appreciate tsunami-like downpours when I'm running to my car only to be followed by a 105 degrees/sunny/steam-filled world by the time I get home. Needless to say I've simply given up attempting to look good. Why? Because I will probably be hit with rain, lightening, potential circular winds, some more rain, and hail as Todd Howell continually likes to inform me. If you ever see a bedraggled, pissed-off person who resembles a cat that's be dry cleaned then mopped that's more than likely me. And today appears to be no different. This morning, during breakfast of homemade pancakes for the fourth day in a row (yours truly is saving every penny she has for her trip to L.A. and sacrificing food in lieu of a fake purse in Chinatown) I found that what do we have again but a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until Lord knows when. So off with anything resembling fashionable and on with the fast drying tank top (which will probably get to show its merits at Sundown tonight given the state of the sky.) Hope to see you there. Or not, depending on my level of bedraggledness.
But before then here are the Mosts and the events.

As Sundown in the City nears the end of its annual run, you may be wondering what you're going to fill your Thursday nights with during the rest of the summer. One option for July through September will be the new Old City Live music series at the outdoor stage behind Southbound Bar & Grill on Central Street in the Old City.
yumm...
They're missing it. Fifteen minutes in the tasting room/shop at the Shady Grove Meadery, a stone's throw from Interstate 75 in Lake City, and it's obvious: These kindly vintners, whose bottles have been available at local liquor stores since 2004, are oblivious to the mythic marketing opportunities that surround them.
Wanna see what Knoxville looked like 75 years ago? Because here you can.
I was in one of those old-fashioned cafés you used to find in small towns in the Deep South, with a broad veranda and a screen door that creaked and slammed lightly and an old top-loader soda-pop refrigerator. There was an upright piano in back. A fellow from the kitchen played a bit of a tune.

State Sen. Tim Burchett remains a popular political figure in Knox County, if recent polling is to be believed, and remains the favorite to become the next Knox County mayor. But a couple of recent issues have elected county officeholders angry, and whether this translates into problems with the rank and file is the central question in next year's mayoral primary.
