The Daily Pulse:

The Sherpa: A Brand New Day

I know these are the words from countless songs and annoying motivational speakers but it's true.  It is a brand new day, a Thursday yes, but a new one.  It's sunny, it's summer, and it's two days to the weekend.  Maybe it's because certain deadlines have passed or maybe it's the fact that I've had enough coffee to induce permanent neural damage in a small child but today just feels good.  A day in which I could start something new and actually finish it, not shove it into the dusty creases of my brain labeled "someday" next to unfinished projects like grouting the sink.  Don't you wish we always woke up this way?  I know there are the rare .03 percent of people who greet the morning gleefully and not by hurling alarm clocks against our dressers but for the rest of us why not do something different today?   Who knows, it might just work out.  And even though it's not new, here are the Mosts and the events to get you started.

Another one of our videos that you might want to check out.

Oh wait, there's more video?  Yes, yes there is.
Vintage television commercials from that thumpin' good watermelon man, Mr. Cas Walker. You can still get Supraderm Salve at David West's Ciderville Music Store.

Want to be a professional comic book artist? Good luck--so does everyone else with a stack of Bristol board and a head full of superheroes. But thanks to the wonders of the Internet and strong performances in several high-profile contests--and scads of talent--Knoxville-based artist Marcus Parcus (familiarly known as Marcus Thiele) might be well on his way to securing one of pop culture's most coveted job titles.

Commenters are still going crazy over this story.

When it comes to the Internet, the attitude too often is "can I do it" rather than "should I do it."  David Kernell is accused of guessing Sarah Palin's password, accessing her Yahoo e-mail account, and reading her personal e-mail. Is it wrong? Most assuredly. If guilty, should he be punished? Of course. Was he stupid? Yes.

Today's events
Thomas and Friends at the Tennessee Theatre at 7 p.m. $20 - $40
Ed Kowalczyk at the Bijou Theatre at 8 p.m. $18
