The Daily Pulse:

The Sherpa: The Summer Blues

Well I've done it.  I've OD'ed on the main component that makes summer manageable for me; ice cream.  This isn't a new thing for yours truly.  As soon as the weather starts getting warmer I start eyeing the delicious treat like that crazed prehistoric squirrel in Ice Age, bug eyes and all.  It's just so gooood.  That's because summer for me is saying "Let's go for ice cream" after a long day of sitting in front of a computer screen or lounging by the pool, depending on the day.  Then the inevitable comes.  I reach the point where I realize I've gone to Marble Slab one too many times and I'm nursing a stomach that feels like the infamous scene in Alien.  That day is today.

It's a pattern that comes with every season.  Candy-corn for fall, toffee for winter, and cadbury eggs for spring.  I know I'm sounding like a person who's trying to get her heart to stop but they're the only things I allow myself to indulge in.  So when I indulge, I indulge.   But as of right now the only thing I can manage is a grimace whenever I think about a desert menu or the freezer section at the grocery store.  So with that I give you the Mosts and the Events and the advice that you should always keep Tums nearby and a vow that I won't be eating anything cold and sweet for a very long time.  Well, at least until next April.

I'm a human barometer. A storm front is moving in, and I can feel it from head to toe--I'm achy, tired; my toes and fingers have a distinctive burning/cold sensation, and I can literally feel the pressure building in my head. Migraine.

Blount Mansion is Knoxville's only registered National Historic Landmark. Located on the corner of Hill Avenue and a remnant of State Street, the oldest frame house in Tennessee is this 1792 home of territorial governor William Blount. Assuming things go according to plan, the federal government will tender a quarter-million-dollar federal grant that may change the face of the grounds around Blount Mansion over the next three years.

Another cool vintage video of the great park.

Check out what a very energetic commenter (thank you devildoglola) had to say about one of our local restaurants.
