Staff writer Charles Maldonado takes city governance very seriously (for the most part... in public, anyway). So when it came time for us to assemble an overview of the candidates running for City Council, he did not merely put forth a few meager questions for their boilerplate answers. Nor did he send out a questionnaire of mostly general questions.
No, he conducted personal interviews with all 14 candidates, asking for their off-the-cuff takes on Knoxville's most controversial issues. The results are lengthy, but very worthwhile reading if you need help in choosing who to vote for in the primary (Sept. 22) and the general election (Nov. 3). Early voting is now.
