Reports revealed over the weekend that the story of a boy thought by his parents to be trapped in a balloon as it sailed over Denver was a hoax.
The father and mother, Richard and Mayumi Heene, allegedly cooked up the scheme to win a reality TV show (and in doing so, made it painfully obvious how "real" these shows generally are).
I'm not convinced this is the end of the television line for the Heenes. Personally, I find the prospect of reality show about an attention-seeking, scam-artist father, and the family bound by his harebrained schemes, to be far more interesting than one about wife-swapping (when did that term become so socially acceptable?) or balloon children.
If you haven't been following this story closely, you can catch the "best of" Heene dancing around questions and feigning contempt on Larry King and the Today show
