We get lots and lots and lots of press releases around here. Most of them are not terribly exciting. Yet, Mary Pom Claiborne, communications administrator of the Knox County Public Library System, has managed to capture our interest with this dramatic account of a boiler gone mad:
Lawson McGhee Library's HVAC system has gone rogue
Repairs to the boiler will begin Sunday, November 8
(Knoxville, TN) Patrons and staff at Lawson McGhee Library may have to bundle
up for a few days. The boiler at the central library is leaking water and is
scheduled for repair beginning Sunday, November 8, 2009. The library
administration estimates that assessment and repair may take up to five days.
During this time the heating and cooling system in the building will be completely
shut down. The Library will continue its regular schedule and recommends that
its staff and patrons dress accordingly. The weather forecast for that week
is mild with temperatures in the 60s.
Lawson McGhee Library is located downtown at 500 W. Church Avenue.
The Library system will be closed on Wednesday, November 11 in honor of Veteran's Day.
