The Daily Pulse:

Marking World AIDS Day in Knoxville

Today is World AIDS Day, an event that can sometimes get lost in the shuffle due to the common misperception that AIDS has been "cured" or less of a global problem.

But according to the CDC, someone in the U.S. contracts HIV every 9 1/2 minutes. And in Knoxville, the number of new HIV/AIDS cases in Knox County has stayed about the same in the last few years of data available from the Tennessee Department of Health. (For more on AIDS in Knoxville, read Rose Kennedy's cover story from last year.)
