Frank here. A friend alerted to me this speech by New York State Senator Diane Savino on extending marriage rights to same-sex couples. Savino doesn't say anything I haven't heard before, but she does deliver a cogent message with conviction, humility, humor and reason.
Her words weren't enough: Gay marriage failed to pass New York's senate Wednesday, but Savino likely earned some points and name recognition with progressives both inside and outside the state. For more on her, check out this interview with New York magazine after the vote.
