The Daily Pulse:

Bistro at the Bijou Has a New Owner

And it's probably someone you may already be familiar with--Martha Boggs, the current manager of the Bistro, has bought it from the Millwood Group. This'll come as some relief to her dining fans, as there had been talk over a year ago that the Bijou building's management may be looking for a new restaurant.

"As of the beginning of 2010, the Bistro has entered into a multi-year lease
with the non-profit Bijou Theatre, according to Bijou Theatre Board of
Directors President Larsen Jay.  'We are extremely pleased with the outcome
of events and look forward to both the Bistro and the Bijou continuing to be
part of downtown Knoxville's growth,' stated Jay."

Meanwhile, the Bistro is closed for renovations. Read the full press release on the jump.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Longtime Bistro at the Bijou manager
purchases business, renovations underway

For Immediate Release ‹ January 5, 2010

KNOXVILLE  The Historic Bijou Theatre announces that Martha Boggs, long-time
manager of the Bistro at the Bijou restaurant, has purchased the business
previously owned by the Millwood Group.

"I look forward to continuing to partner with the Bijou Theatre and downtown
to provide the same high-quality experience that our customers have come to
expect," said Boggs.

As of the beginning of 2010, the Bistro has entered into a multi-year lease
with the non-profit Bijou Theatre, according to Bijou Theatre Board of
Directors President Larsen Jay.  "We are extremely pleased with the outcome
of events and look forward to both the Bistro and the Bijou continuing to be
part of downtown Knoxville's growth," stated Jay.

The Bistro is currently closed for lunch and dinner while renovations on the
heat and air system are underway. Boggs anticipates reopening the restaurant
by January 8, and further renovations will continue throughout the year.

The Bijou Theatre is part of the Lamar House, one of the oldest buildings in
Knoxville, and celebrated its 100th anniversary as a performing arts venue
in 2009.  Currently, the Bijou Theatre is owned and operated as a non-profit
performing arts venue and is managed by AC Entertainment.
