The Daily Pulse:

Harold Ford, Jr. Supports Gay Marriage

West Tennessean, former House member and one-time Senate contender Harold Ford, Jr. said yesterday morning on the Today Show and in the New York Post that he now supports extending marriage rights to same-sex couples.

But when he was running for the Senate in Tennessee in 2006 against Bob Corker, Ford said he supported a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage because he was in favor of civil unions.
Many think his reversal points to strategic repositioning for another run for the Senate, this time not in Tennessee but in his adopted home of New York.

First he'd have to square off in the primary against Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, appointed by New York Governor David Patterson to replace Hillary Clinton when she accepted the position of secretary of state in the Obama administration.

Yesterday the White House made clear it opposes Ford's challenge to Gillibrand.

Here someone has gone to the trouble of splicing the Today Show clip with a campaign ad from 2006. From the title of the video, that person doesn't seem like a fan.

It's always fun to catch politicians changing their positions based on where they're seeking office. Then again, isn't that what they're supposed to do?
