The Daily Pulse:

Knoxville Gets Its Own BBQ Fest

First there was BaconFest, then the International Biscuit Festival (June 5), and now we will have the Pork Knox Q-Fest, coming April 22-24 to the World's Fair Park.

According to organizers, over 30 competitive BBQ teams from around the country will be converging on Knoxville to smoke up some 'cue. (So far, there are about 20 teams from the local area listed on the festival's website.) The festival will serve as a fund-raiser for the Knoxville disABILITY Resource Center, a non-profit that assists people with disabilities to gain independence.

It's nice to see another element added to the ever-growing Knoxville barbecue scene. For many years following the demise of Brother Jack's, we didn't seem to have much to brag about when it came to "Knoxville barbecue." But now, with so many recent openings (highlighted by places like Sweet P's and Dead-End, just to name a few), it seems like we finally may be turning into a BBQ destination.
