The Daily Pulse:

Lost in the Maize

After our friend and colleague Betty Bean noted over on KnoxViews that the campaign website for county mayoral candidate Rev. Ezra Maize appeared to have expired, we went over to to see for ourselves. Sure enough, it redirects to a GoDaddy page called, with a big notice that the "domain name expired on 4/11/10 and is pending renewal or deletion." The rest of the page is taken up with corn- and farming-related links. Reached on the phone this morning, Maize was surprised to hear his site had expired just as early voting was beginning. "It shouldn't have," he said. He promised to check on it and call us back.

Maize is in the news today, accusing former County Commissioner Diane Jordan of discouraging one of his supporters from voting in the Democratic primary. It's possible he should be more concerned about his own website directing people to alfalfa seed sales. (Not that we have anything against Alfalfa.)

UPDATE: The good Rev. seems to have taken our call to heart. His website is back up. Now who says the local media isn't paying attention to our local Democratic candidates?
