The Daily Pulse:

UT Athletics: We've Been Burned Before

The details of UT's prenuptial contract with head football coach Derek Dooley were released yesterday and revealed that the Vols are leery of another handsome, promising outsider coming to town, only to leave them for a more successful and attractive partner a year or two later.

If Dooley resigns before Feb. 15, 2012, he would have to pay $4 million to the university, and each subsequent year that amount would fall by $1 million. After that, the cost of divorce would be just $250,000 from 2015 to 2016.

On the other hand, if Dooley turns out to be a dud and UT wants to date again, Tennessee would owe him $5 million through Feb. of 2013, $4 million in 2014 and 2015, and $2.5 million after February 2015.

UT seems determined the make this marriage work, at least for a few years anyway.
