In light of recent claims by tourism honcho Gloria Ray of the Knoxville convention center's booming success, it's worth noting that the facility lost its awesomest event: AdventureCon.
This annual nerd pilgrimage features sci-fi/horror movie stars (this year: Billy Dee Williams! Jake "I Ruined Star Wars" Lloyd!), TV actors (James Best, aka "Roscoe" from Dukes of Hazzard!), wrestlers (Mick Foley! Ted DiBiase!) and comic book artists and vendors for a weekend geekfest unlike any other in East Tennessee.
And this year... it's gonna be in Pigeon Forge at the Grand Resort Hotel's convention center, May 28-30.
Oh, AdventureCon, did we not serve you well? Were we not sufficiently fanboy-ish? Why did you have to go and leave us for another city? I guess it's still worth a 30-minute drive to meet Fred "The Hammer" Williamson, but geez...
