The Daily Pulse:

We Lost AdventureCon, People!

In light of recent claims by tourism honcho Gloria Ray of the Knoxville convention center's booming success, it's worth noting that the facility lost its awesomest event: AdventureCon

This annual nerd pilgrimage features sci-fi/horror movie stars (this year: Billy Dee Williams! Jake "I Ruined Star Wars" Lloyd!), TV actors (James Best, aka "Roscoe" from Dukes of Hazzard!), wrestlers (Mick Foley! Ted DiBiase!) and comic book artists and vendors for a weekend geekfest unlike any other in East Tennessee.

And this year... it's gonna be in Pigeon Forge at the Grand Resort Hotel's convention center, May 28-30.

Oh, AdventureCon, did we not serve you well? Were we not sufficiently fanboy-ish? Why did you have to go and leave us for another city? I guess it's still worth a 30-minute drive to meet Fred "The Hammer" Williamson, but geez...

We didn't lose AdventureCon. The owner of the con is just an idiot who thinks that moving it to a tourist trap town on one of the busiest tourist weekends (how many families are going to skip Dollywood to go see washed-up movie stars and wrestlers instead) all year was a smart move.

It's not worth the 2-hour drive, given traffic, to go see the same stars and same toy vendors every year. AdCon had potential, but that's gone.
