Hens In the City Clears Another Hurdle

Just one more vote and it could become legal to keep hens in the city. Last night, City Council approved an ordinance that would allow city dwellers to keep up to six hens (no roosters) for eggs (but not meat or egg sales). The second reading shall be in four weeks; if it passes, we're good to go. Here are a few pieces of background on the ordinance, which has been in the works for more than a year through groups such as the Urban Hen Coalition.
